I have recently bought Powertap's P1 power meter pedals and I am having trouble with my Garmin 520 in connecting to them.
I have had multiple connectivity issues such as;
- Paired the pedals with the 520, powered on and off the 520 and the 520 cant find the P1 anymore, even when search for a new sensor.
- During a ride the 520 looses the connection with the P1 and 10-15 mins later they manage to reconnect (this happens even with my work around mentioned below).
- The 520 cant see the pedals as a Power sensor but does see the P1 as a speed sensor.
- The 520 connect to the P1 but then gives me an error that the P1 are running an incompatible firmware version.
In all cases my 520 does not loose connectivity to my HRM or other sensors and I can use the PowerTap IOS App or Zwift to connect to the P1 without any issues.
I am currently in the situation of every time I go cycling I need to remove the Powertap sensors from the 520, remove the battery from the P1 and put it back in and then re-add the P1 to the 520. Only by removing the battery from the P1 does the 520 then pick up the P1 as a power sensor.
Does anyone have any idea as my work around is not really practical and time consuming.?
