No joy...
The screenshot button sat once on the powerbutton but they moved that to the lap button which has a double function when the screenshot option i set to ON (after every boot). It takes a shot and starts a lap.
Just another "bright" idea without thinking it through decently. This is just how the bright heads at Garmin work...
Out of interest how frequently are you taking screen shots and what are you using them for?
As I've got my 520 set to auto-lap every mile, this is quite likely one of the most annoying design 'features' to me. You need to hold down the lap button for 5 seconds until it takes the screenshot. If you have tones on you'll get a quick beep when it does. If not then you get to count slowly to five (or more to be safe).. If you do this it won't set a lap when you take a screenshot, only when pressed for less than 5 seconds.
The problem of course is while you're riding you get sweaty. You hit bumps. You have to turn. You have to watch out for traffic. Whoever thought it was a good idea to require you to hold onto the unit for 5 seconds obviously isn't a cyclist. If your sweaty fingers happen to slip off, poof you get a lap instead of a screenshot. If you have auto-laps turned on, congrats your laps are now all thrown off for the rest of the ride. And we all know how easy it is to edit the FIT data to correct your laps..
Why not set the function on something that doesn't modify your data in any way, say by pressing both the power and enter buttons at the same time? There should be NO use for the start/pause or lap buttons except for what they are for.
In short I've turned this feature off because it's not worth the trouble of messing up my laps just to have a screenshot of something I wanted to share.
Are you saying that if you hold for 5 seconds, it will take a screenshot WITHOUT starting a new lap?
