Garmin remote tied to one single Garmin device

Well I knew that you couldn't configure to remotes on one device, but I was surprised to find this morning when I went on a quick run with a Garmin 1000 and a Garmin 520 that the reverse was also true.

I had been expecting to be able to control both devices simultaneously with the single remote so that I could compare screens as I went along.

In fact I find that contrary to most ant+ devices, the remote reciprocally pairs with the Garmin computer in the same way that Bluetooth does and that anything else is excluded.

I could either connect with and control the 1000 – or I could connect with and control the 520 – but never both at the same time.

I suppose that would take two remotes
  • Yes you would need two remotes as a remote can only be paired with one Edge at a time. If you ride with a Di2 system with the D-Fly ANT+ adapter then you can control multiple head units at the same time using the Di2 hidden buttons.
