Disable Auto Shut-down?

Former Member

Edge 20.

If I stop and save the ride, the unit switches itself off after a few minutes.
This is fine when I get home, but if I go somewhere and save that part of the ride and stay (say) 20mins, I have to wait for the thing to boot up again before I can leave.

Sometimes it takes a few rather frustrating minutes to boot up and acquire the satellites. If I could set it to stay on after saving, it would be a Good Thing.

Is this possible?
Can't find it in the menu.

Thanks,
Mick.

By the lack of a response, I take it that either no-one knows ................. or it is impossible.

Does anyone else have this the problem with auto Shut-down?

    Thanks guys,
    Mick.
  • Just pause the ride rather than stopping it

I don't use Auto Pause because it keeps Auto Pause-ing when I go down narrow lanes or under trees or near tall buildings. I'd rather keep it going.
Of course I can just pause it manually when I require it.

You cannot change the page readouts mid-ride. You have to stop, save, and then go to the Settings page.
If you are too slow in starting it again, (if you wait a while at a cafe?) it automatically switches off. 2mins?

You can disable the tones, disable the display dimming, you can disable auto-pause ............ but you cannot disable auto shutdown.

    Thanks,
    Mick.

I think what he meant was to manually pause the activity (by pressing the top right button). When it says "resume, save, discard" the ride is paused. However, if you were to resume it, the total elapsed time will include the time during which it was paused. So you could (lacking an option to turn the auto shut down feature off) pause, have a coffe, save and start a new ride. Or you could pause, have a coffe and then resume. That's usually what I do if I go on "coffee rides".
