edge 25 segment prompts not working

I have made a bunch of Garmin segments and courses. But my edge 25 unit is not alerting me at all.
I upload the courses with the Android app.
It tells me the the courses have segments
Segment prompts are turned on and I have the newest firmware.
Tried both ride->follow course
And just courses> my course in the menu on the unit
Still not working.
Also tried deleting all courses and reuploading.
Bug? Or am I doing something wrong.
Garmin support was not helpful. Just told me the edge 25 does not support segments. Blah

Same here. I have tried everything to get segment alerts in vain. The segment I created shows up on the garmin connect website with leader board stats etc. but when I create a course on gc that passes through the created segment, it doesn't show up at all on the route, even though I keep the relevant check-box clicked while creating the course. I have tried sending the course (with the said segment) to the edge-25 via the phone and garmin express, but no luck.

Segment alert is very much advertised as being supported on the product page and there's a 3rd party video demonstrating it. But it never works for me. Course alerts work like you said.

Do you have written communication from the Garmin reps saying it is not supported? You could sue them! ;)

I do have it in writing. But its in Norwegian.
Provably just someone with little knowledge of all the features. I replied with a detailed explanation but newer heard back.
Unacceptable! I'm sending it back and buying a wahoo elemnt

I'm also having this problem. I've messaged customer support and tried Twitter also but haven't heard anything back yet.

I see this an old post but I would like to resurrect, I just brought a Garmin Edge 25 and it says supports 'Virtual Partner' ... It doesn't really have Virtual Partner as such and that it should not be called that, its not the same as the Virtual Partner on the 520 or 820 and OK its a cheaper device but still, don't call the feature Virtual partner.

Also I'm trying to work out how to race against my previous time over a course, which as I understand it Garmin call 'Racing Against A Segment' in the product information. Am I right in saying its this process:

1) Create Your Course - I worked out how to convert an activity to a course as trying to create a couse manually on the map with map pins is a bit finicky to say the least.

2) Convert entire Course to a segment - How do I do this?

3) Once you are on the course the Garmin Edge 25 should prompt if you want to race against segment.

Presumably you are racing against your previous best time based on average speed? How is this determined?

Do Garmin support monitor these forums or are they just user to user btw ?
