Gpx file corrupt / GarminFail

Made a beautiful ride from Rijswijk to Haarzuilens in The Netherlands today. While ending the ride at home on my Garmin (1030) it turns out that the way back is registered as one long line.

In strava you can see all the segments that I drove on the way back. So they are registered. The number of kilometers also corresponds with what the device indicated.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening and how to fix it?

If what donaldgroen mentioned does not work, post your fit file here and we can attempt to repair it for you.

First, try a manual upload to Garmin Connect - How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file being corrupt. Attach it to this thread. We can look to see if it is repairable.

Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
Or upload the fit file to a file sharing service, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc., make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.

Do you have the fit file from this activity from your Edge? Should be in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on your device. That will have more information regarding what might have happened. As it is now, there is a large gap where no data was recorded between 73.4 and 119.23 km (hence the straight line).

Quite strange, because the way back I rode on navigation from the Garmin.
The kilometers driven and other values were also simply indicated on the 1030.

In the event log there is a "stop all" event at 2:53:16 into the ride where the Edge stops recording.

How that happened, hard to say. Inadvertent button press, error in the activity. Even though you can see the data on the device as you're riding, the recording of the activity is problematic.

I would like to thank you very much for your help. I guess I have to learn to live with it.... :-)

Let's see if it happens again the next ride. Otherwise I must look out for a new Garmin (1040?). :-)
