Interpreting Power Meter Low Battery Warning

Background

A recent firmware update for the Edge 1030 has modified the low battery warnings. Specifically, For my Vector 3 pedals, I’m now told “Power Sensor Battery 1 Battery Low.” When I drill down to the “About” display for the Vector 3, it shows me two battery status icons, for batteries 0 and 1.

Question

Which pedal is battery 0 and which is battery 1?

  • That is a very good question. I had battery low for one of my pedals as well and checked the about with the same result as you. No idea which pedal. Note that the pedal will work for a long time even with battery low. There is another battery level below that one. After a couple of months with battery low both pedals had the critical battery warning so I replaced both batteries at the same time.

My guess is that it is the left pedal that is pedal 0. If you only got single sided power meter the power meter is in the left pedal so that should be the first pedal.

Check the LEDs on the pedals. "1 red flash every 10 seconds - The pedal batteries are low."
