Di2 D-Fly reports incorrect gear I'm in

After experiencing odd Di2 shifting behavior (Gear Position Control, which I had no knowledge of, just engaged itself), connected via e-tube desktop and updated everything.

Got out on a ride and shifting is operating properly, 1030 shows the correct front chain rings teeth and rear cassette teeth settings using auto detect.

But the Edge 1030's gear display, when I'm in sm cr and rear cassette 30T cog, will first show it in the right position, then about five seconds later it will show it in next cog down, even though it's not.

Have been running with this group since 2018 - has always reported properly.

Not sure what else is different other than a bunch of firmware updates that I did as shown in the image. Is there something else like Gear Position Control that I was ignorant of?

  • I would recommend updating your Di2 system completely, then removing and re-pairing to your 1030. The Edge will only display information it receives from a sensor (regardless of what the sensor is) so the Edge will have no control over this information that is being displayed.

  • Hello - thank you for your response.

I did do both ("connected via e-tube desktop and updated everything"), including removing from the 1030 and readding, but I will try readding from the 1030 again and report back.

  • If you removed the Di2 from he Edge and paired again, you need to update the settings of the sensor called "Di2". Go to sensors, then settings. You will be able to select the gears you have on the bike. The D-fly sends the gear position to the Edge but have not the actual tooth count.

  • The Di2 will send the tooth count as well if you have configured it using e-tube and set the Edge to automatic.
