Hello,
I bought an Edge 1030 last winter, I started using it outside a few weeks ago and apart form the first ride where I had some calibration issues everything has been working mostly fine until yesterday.
I made a big route in Strava Routes and loaded the route through IQ. This had been working fine for the last few weeks but today I had a massive navigation problems, it was as if the map screen just wouldn't refresh automatically. The GPS knew 100% where I was at any time cause as soon as I missed a turn the Edge starting bleeping as it normally would, however turn by turn navigation didn't respond and worst of all the map screen was just frozen... if I wanted the edge to show me where I was I had to manually tap the screen a few times and then after a second or 2 the screen would refresh and show my actual location, after which the entire thing froze again until I tapped the screen again... you will of course understand that this was insanity, it's 100% impossible to tap the screen every time a crossing comes up to determine where I had to go, might as well use a paper map...
Luckily however, I had send my friend the .gpx file and everything worked fine for him. The kicker was... turn by turn navigation kicked in as soon as I rode back into my home street where the device snapped back on the first kilometer of the route... I was annoyed but not even remotely as annoyed I was by the next issue:
At some point mid ride my Edge just crashed and did a forced reset. Now I've known this to happen from time to time on my Edge 800 as well but it was never a big deal... you just restart the device and ride on and everything is fine, at most you lost a km of data from where the Edge 800 froze up and rebooted. As far as I could see yesterday during the ride, this was the same problem. However once I got home and uploaded my ride to Garmin Connect/Strava it seemed half the ride was gone and the device just pulled a straight line over the map from the last point where I rebooted my edge (early on to try and fix the navigation issues (which failed) all the way up to the point where the device crashed).(https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4742087498)
Now, some things are still there, like the distance and moving time and everything. That information is correct. But all power & heart rate data from that 3 hour window has been clipped, this does also greatly impact on my training metrics which annoys me even more.
So... does anybody know of any way to do some sort of recovery to fix the file in it's original status?
