Who can help me with Garmin Huawei connectivity

I just bought a New Huawei p30 pro phone.

I am trying to connect to my Garmin Edge 1030 GPS

The phone has Android 10 and EMUI 10 on it.

I tried all the settings given on the web-site's support.

Updated all software to the latest.

Phoned the local support line And......

Nothing

Please help or send me to someone who can help.

Wessel

  • Best tip: get a iPhone... standard hardware and Software make it much easier to support.

OK short of that the steps are

    1) install Connect Mobile on the phone

    2) start paring a new Edge device from that Connect app on the phone

    3) when prompted pair the Edge and Phone using Bluetooth first, then again with BLE (there needs to be 2 Bluetooth connections, not only one).

    4) complete the setup process on the phone Connect app

    5) for any connected feature to work the Garmin Connect Mobile app must always run in the background. If it is not loaded nothing works.

    Cheers.

  • Follow the procedure describe by Martin868. If it's not working on firts try (may happen), I recommend you to desinstall entirely Garmin Connect from your phone + Bluetooth entries and start with a "fresh" phone. Go to the Playstore and reinstall Garmin Connect. From there, add your device. Our Edges 1030 are both connect on Huawei P9 and P20.

  • Thanks, Tried it several times, but did not work:(

  • The latest update 4.27.1 of the Garmin Connect app allows the edge to pair again!

  • Hello

My edge 1030 started paying up and crashed regularly after a few minutes. This stated during a ride in rain and snow at low temperatures.

In the hope that a hard reset would solve the problem, I did a reset and after that my Phone (Huawei Mate 10Pro) did no longer connect to the Garmin app.  I tried numerous times and many fails.

However, I manged to get it reconnected by

    A) Delete and reinstall Garmin app on phone.

    B) Did another hard reset on my Garmin edge and when it asks during the setup to pair with the phone it worked well.

(Note: It ONLY worked after I did the hard reset on the Garmin and during the initial setup.    Initially when I did item A) i.e reinstall the app,  I did not reset the Garmin edge and tried to connect and it did NOT work then.  It only worked during the initial device setup.

I am using V9.10 on the Garmin and I am up-to-date on the latest Garmin app on Playstore.

    Hope this helps.

By the way, it appears that the reason for the Garmin edge to crash might have been the low temperature and possibly water ingress?
It continued to crash regularly for 2 days but the intervals between crashing became longer while sitting for 2 days on my windowsill.

After 2 days, it is now on continuously for 24h without crash, indicating that it might have dried out.

  • The Edge is normally sealed and should not have an issue with rain. I used mine in the rain and in the cold many many times without problem. When it rains I use the power button to lock the screen since touch does not work well when the screen is wet. I have a Edge Remote to make things easier with gloves and on rainy days. So if your device let water in make sure the SD card cover is well closed and maybe reach to garmin for a potential replacement. These units are IPX7 and should be water proof.
