I currently use an Edge 1000 that I've had since they were introduced. Everything works fine on it, but since most product info for it has been removed from the Garmin site, it's not possible to easily compare the 1000 to the 1030. I've typically upgraded my Garmins at most new generations, but the 1030 doesn't appear to be much different from the 1000. I do see that the battery capacity is better, which would be helpful.
So are there any compelling features of the 1030 that makes it a better device? I mostly use the Edge because I like gadgets and upload my rides to Strava, but I'm not into any type of heavy training, have no use for a power meter, etc. And even if there's no compelling reason, I might just upgrade to have something new to play with. :-)
