I used my Edge 1030 to record my Copper Triangle (https://www.rollmassif.com/coppertriangle/) ride in the Colorado Mountains. I was surprised at the end the ride that my 1030 said I only had 6,066 feet of elevation gain instead of the advertised 6500 feet for the ride. Then I looked at my maximum elevation and it says 10,717 ft. However, the first mountain pass is Fremont Pass which is 11,318 ft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremont_Pass_(Colorado)).
However, I noticed on the Garmin website there is an "Elev Corrections" option that was Disabled. It says if enabled it uses professional survey data instead of data from my device. Sure enough, when I enable it my maximum elevation is corrected.
So is the altimeter in my 1030 not accurate for high elevations? Do I need to calibrate it or something?
