My display issues

My Edge 1030 is one of those that has the blue halo display issue.  I was OK with living with it, but this morning I was getting ready to turn it on to make sure that today's ride was indeed on the unit.  I noticed that the bottom edge of the display has separated from the unit.  I'm guessing that the adhesive has failed in that area.  There is enough of a gap that I can see the connecting ribbon cable to the display.  The device and display continue to work, but it obviously has no weatherproofing now.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I have sent an email via the Garmin Support page.  We'll see what they advise.

  • There was a poster here a while ago who had the same issue. You are entitled to a replacement without questions.

Yes, same thing happened to me about a week ago, just after the spell of hot weather (in the UK) - the battery expanded and lifted the screen...called Garmin support and they've sent a replacement (mine was about 18 months old so presumably still under warranty and the replacement was refurbished apparently but looks brand new) - whole process took 3 days. Although not ideal that the problem occurred , have to say I'm pretty happy with the way Garmin sorted it. Suggest you phone them.

  • I think maybe the battery expanded on mine as well, but the display also had the blue halo issue.  My new (presumably refurbished) one is already on the way, and I’ll be shipping my current one to them tomorrow.
