Multiple default bikes for Garmin 1030

Ok! I saw some old posts, but this is April 2019 and the Garmin 1030 STILL does this. Soooo, lets fix it Garmin. What we want (what I want) is this....
I have two bikes. A ROAD bike and a GRAVEL bike. I have two seperate profiles setup, one for ROAD and one for GRAVEL. What I want is for my ROAD profile to have my ROAD bike as default, and to have my GRAVEL profile to have my GRAVEL bike as default. Simple! Different gear for different bikes. NOT one default gear for just cycling!

After I upload my routes to Garmin Connect, I can change the gear setting to the correct bike there, but that's additional work and unnecessary. Also, by selecting the incorrect default on the Garmin 1030, the miles indicated for the bike are incorrect. They're racking up on the wrong bike. This should have been changed a long time ago. After all....who has just one bike????

But it gets corrected after you manually assign the correct bike to the activity.
  • +1 on digitald00d's request. I hate having to manually select which bike I used when I already have two different profiles. I quit manually assigning gear in Garmin connect, I do it in Strava. If it's done by profile, it would hopefully cascade from Garmin Connect to Strava.
  • As you know, Garmin Connect handles your Gear/Bikes. There is no intention of this changing in the future on the Edge 1030. I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • This has been something that I would also like as would many others. It must be a simple thing to do so how enept are garmin programmers that this hasn’t been sorted ?

  • Who has only one road bike? And then what? Problem exists.

I have four bikes I have been keeping historical mileage, first with an Edge 700, and then an 810. This is crap! The 1030, or Garmin Connect will not provide an Odometer that I can edit  for more than one bike? Are my only options finding an 810 or shopping for a Wahoo or something similar? Maybe I should go back to a yellow pad and pencil? I've wasted several days trying figure this out, using fit editors and grousing around on Google. Enough BS. ONLY one ride on the 1030 and it is off to Ebay. Thanks Garmin.

    Agree, agree

  • I just went to Garmin connect to see how difficult it is to change bikes for a activity if each bike has its own profile. Took two mouse clicks. Maybe 4 seconds. I can live with that.
