Garmin EDGE 1030 and Garmin Forerunner 935

Hello.
I have a question about data synchronization between these two devices.
Why the forerunner after training does not synchronize data with edge1030, does not add calories burned, training status, etc., only this information is connected only in the garmin connet application but they are not visible in the watch, which makes both devices have contradictory data on the training status, calories, etc.

I found a similar topic but to this day the problem seems to be unresolved.

https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/cycling/edge-1030-aa/1249235-syncing-needed-training-status-edge-1030-and-forerunner-935

Two premium devices do not work together. Cheap samsung watches for 200 euros synchronize all data between each other and this equipment is not :(
Has anyone already solved this problem?

Sorry for my bad English. Regards
  • I have the Forerunner 935 and now have an Edge 1030 as well. The exercise date from one syncs to the other for me just fine.

Do you have Physio True Up enabled on both devices? I do, so it does work as expected.

The thread you refer to is over 12 months old and is probably irrelevant now.
  • Thank You for reply.
I have Physio True Up enabled on in both devices.
For example, I go on a bicycle without a watch only with the edge 1030, I return home after training, do synchronization ... in garmin connetc I see training and all the rest (for example: sum of calori from the day including training), and Forerunner 935 I only see the calories that I burned to wear on my hand (without calories from cycling).
  • It makes me have other information in the application and others in the watch.
  • As in the picture.
    forerunner 935 calories burned 37
    EDGE 1030 calories burned 29
So together should show in the application garmin conect and on forerunner 935 calories 37+ 29 = 66 calori
in the application shows 58 (I do not know, maybe they are net calories, OK no problem)
and on forerunner 935 still 37 caloris not showing caloris from edge 1030ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1419798.jpg
  • This is not a topic of Physio True Up in my opinion.
To my understanding Physio True Up does only sync physiological data from the activities (i.e. recovery time, training load, training status, vo2 max, basically the fitbit metrics introduced for the newer devices) and does not sync calories.
The calories, espeicially the active calories on the device, are part of the fitness tracker functionalities (which are btw synched by the original true up between different fitness trackers).
The Edge is not a fitness tracker, it records only activities- this is btw also the reason why activities recorded on your edge does not contribute to your intensivity minutes (also fitness tracker functionality) if you are not wearing your fitness tracker.
The Forerunner is a fitness tracker and calculates your calories based on the BMR + elevated Heart Rate. Therefore, if you wear the FR at the same time you are recording an activity in the edge, the calculation for active calories during the activity is different: The edge calculates it based on the activity settings and the FR uses the elevated HR based information (from the wrist OHR)
I think that the connect app does a full integration of the calories (coming both from the fitness tracker and from the activities) and in my opinion this is then also synced back to the device, but this is not very consistent behaviour and might take some time..
I just cross checked: Today I did a training in the edge while wearing my Fenix and initially it showed the difference in the active calories (with the Fenix recording slightly lower results than the activity) but it is now in sync again, i.e. Fenix and Connect show the same active calories.
This behaviour works for me in general because at the end calorie burn is an estimation anyway and I use it to basically monitor my calory intake- but i agree that it should be consistent.
  • It works for me. I always exercise with heart rate. Do you use heart rate with your Edge? I'm wondering if that's why it's not working for you like it should.

I always wear either my 935 or Vivosmart 3 to track all day heart rate, even when tracking it with a strap paired to my Edge. I went for a short ride earlier, recorded using my 1030 and the status shows up on my 935.
  • Yes, I always train with heart rate. But I do not want to use two devices at the same time.
I see, this is the only one option.
I want to use edge for bike training, and for tracking activity use forerunner, no need two device in te sem time this is not comfortable riding with watch on my hand :(
  • All I miss is that I see all the calories burned in the watch as in the application - and the app does not send this information to the watch. Now I know why. The producer has not introduced such an option. Poor Samsung has this option.
  • hi,do you have any news or update about this problem? because i want buy the 1030...
