LiveTrack Issues

I just bought an Edge 1030 a few weeks ago, and I've not yet had Livetrack work, it cuts out a few minutes after I start it and never reconnects.

Details:

* Firmware 5.0 on the Edge 1030
* All sensors are ANT+ (HR, Speed, Cadence), no BLE sensors at all
* Latest Garmin Connect for iOS
* iOS 11.4 on an iPhone 6S
* Before I started the Livetrack, I went into bluetooth settings on my phone and made sure both "BT_Edge 1030" and "Edge 1030" said "Connected"
* Opened Garmin Connect after checking the bluetooth connection settings
* I started the Livetrack on my phone, then rode for a few blocks, then pressed start on my Edge 1030

I'm 0 for 3 attempts so far.

Any ideas?

    There's several users who are still having problems. I'm one of them. One thing I don't have is two different BT connections for the edge. I just have Edge 1030. I didn't see anything on any set up guide about two connections. Strangely my live track would start but drop out due to BT, now it doesn't even start.
  • When you say you "started livetrack from your phone" what do you mean?
    Is the Edge 1030 selected as the Livetrack device?
    When you starta a Ride, power on the Edge 1030, launch Garmin Connect and make sure it sees the Edge 1030.
    Start the activity from the GPS, you should get a notification on the Edge that Livetrack has started.

    I find that Livetrack is somewhat reluctant to start, but works OK once it decides to start. I have FW 5.0 on the 1030 and latest version of Connect Mobile on a Google Pixel 2 running Android 8.1. I have Livetrack set to autostart in Connect Mobile, but even after the 1030 has acquired GPS signal and puts the message at the top of the screen saying phone connected, Livetrack rarely starts when I press the button to start recording an activity. It usually takes several minutes to put the Livetrack started message at the top of the screen, such as this morning when the message appeared while I was waiting at some traffic lights about 1.5km into the ride. Once it's running I don't seem to have any problems with it dropping out. FWIW, I don't have any sensors at all connected to the 1030.

    I clicked the giant blue button that says "Start LiveTrack" in Garmin Connect on my iPhone, then once I'd rolled out of my parking lot, I pressed the start button on my Garmin.

    Yep.

    Start the activity from the GPS, you should get a notification on the Edge that Livetrack has started.

    The Edge 1030 actually does flash that a livetrack has started across the top of the screen, but when I get home and have my girlfriend send me a link to the livetrack, it either A) cut out 1-2 minutes into the ride or B) didn't register anything at all (time, distance, speed are all "--")

    I'm 0 for 4 attempts now.
  • Mine seems to work reliably most of the time unless I am riding for an extended time in an area with limited cell coverage. It fails to reconnect once back in a coverage area.

    I have my connect set to autostart. I send myself an invite as well and see the email coming in when I start.

    How stable is your BT_Edge connection?

    how do you start live track on the garmin?

    Just press start and it auto starts, but you need auto start enabled in GCM.
  • thanks, but no cigar
    this what i have tried
    with samsung s9
    option 1- auto start on gcm active
    option 2- auto start on gcm off
    option 3- manual live track start
    gcm finds the garmin no problem
    but all i get is, you see the start postion and thats it in all cases, no live track.
    so i use whatsup live position instead, to keep the wife happy

    I was getting parts of a route, caused by BT dropping out and the route would start again when BT connected. Now I can't even get it to start. There seems to be a lot of us with Samsung phones that are having issues.

    I am having similar issues with my 1030, in that the live track session starts and sometimes it cuts out during the ride. Interesting thing is that the Garmin app on the iPhone says the the livetrack is still in session yet my wife says the the tracking that she follows me on line cuts out.
