17.33 Stryd planned workout doesn’t appear in watch

Today i installed 17.33. Did a restart after update to 17.33. I have made a Stryd worrkout in Powercentre and the wo was synced to the Garmin planner in Garmin connect and was vissible in the GC app. The workout wasn’t vissible on the watch. Did several syncs. But it didn’t appear on my forerunner. When pressing start >run >training planner . I got a message download traingplanner from Garmin connect. In previous version there was never a problem
Any suggestions? Anybody else experience the same issue?

Speed not tracking when sprinting

So when I do a sudden change in speed the watch speed displayed drops to 0:00/km. I have to stop the run and restart it for the speed to start tracking. At the same time my heart rate dropped into the 90s. I thought it might be a satellite issue but it's using all systems so should have a good lock, this is on an open field with no real clouds around. It has happened on multiple occasions now.

Phone shortcut is not working in FW17.33

Until yesterday, I was using the top right button as a shortcut to connect and disconnect FR970 to/from my phone. In the settings, the shortcut for the top button is still set to "Phone," but when I press it, "Contact" or the call keypad option appears. This happened after installing firmware version 17.33. I assume this is a bug.

17.33 audio volume bug

After this update, every time I go to the audio volume when streaming music or podcasts, the audio level decreases automatically without me touching any button. I also think the new layout is ugly, but that's not a bug, it's a matter of taste.

Notification while ending a training caused a reset

I got a phone app notification at the end of my training, the notification stayed on screen in a rectangle. I pressed the start button, I got the trainings menu, then wanted to press the „end training“ but then instead I got the notification menu on top of the trainings menu layered, then wanted to press the start button again on the dismiss notification to go back to the trainings menu, the watch restarted.

This seems like a corner case or some unhandled race condition that is not taken care of.

Screen lighting up randomly

Ever since i updated to 17.33, my watch have been waling up randomly without me pressing any button or touching the screen.

I've also noticed that if i leave my phone laying on the side, when i pick it up, the screen will light up as well even though i did not press any button or touch the screen.

Wake guesture: OFF

Wake on alerts: OFF

Wake on touch: ON

Is there a setting for me to turn off to stop this from happening?

After update 17.33, all blocked apps in smart notification was removed

I've just noticed that all the apps in smart notification that was blocked got removed and that causes me to receive every notification i receives on the phone. I even receive notification when i have smart notification turned off and the app section turned off. Only way i can fully stop receiving notification is to disable the entire notification section.

17.33 Forerunner 970 Calibration factor is not applied to Stryd 5.0 foot pod pace

Calibration factor is not applied when using Stryd 5.0 foot pod for pace. Watch shows pace without applying calibration factor. Recorded running pace chart also does not apply calibration factor.

The calibration factor should be applied by watch, it has nothing to do with the foot pod. It is ease to check because

1. Recorded pace is the same as raw pace downloaded from foot pod.

2. Enable Auto calibration but foot pod pace and GPS pace (lap pace) still don't match, but you can calculate that the difference is equal to the calibration factor.

It was working properly last year. This is runners watch and yet this is broken for half a year now despite multiple reports.

FR 970 - after 17.33 update, no data in training readiness, frozen hrv status widget?

Hi, after latest update my FR 970 doesn’t show training readiness data, and last average overnight hrv status. On the watch, the HRV status widget is still in a sleep mode (frozen wdget?) . A soft reset didn't help, and neither did re-pairing, syncing works fine, but nothing changes. Any sugestions?

Live segments not working while navigation or workout

I've noticed live segments loaded into the watch do not work while navigating a course or loading a training workout (such as daily suggested training, tempo etc...). Is this supposed to work like this? Notice I'm using Garmin segments only (not Strava). Thanks

Pool swimming, repeated loss of exactly 50 m during swims. Distance is accurate without fins.

Is there anyway to set workouts as reoccuring on a weekly basis?

Critical Bug in Software Version 17.33 – Unable to Start Any Activity (Watch Reboots Every Time)

My Forerunner 970 was automatically updated to Software Version 17.33.

Since the update, every time I try to start any activity (running, cycling, or any other sport profile), the watch immediately restarts. The issue is fully reproducible and occurs every single time, making the device unusable for its primary purpose.

I previously reported random restarts related to map routing and navigation features. Now, after the latest software update, I am facing an even more critical issue where basic activity tracking cannot be started at all.

It is concerning that a software release can reach customers with a defect affecting such a fundamental function of the device. An issue like this may happen once, but seeing critical stability problems repeatedly raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the testing, validation, and quality assurance processes before release.

The Forerunner 970 is marketed as Garmin's flagship running watch. A software update that causes the watch to reboot whenever an activity is started is simply not an acceptable user experience.

I would appreciate this issue being investigated with high priority and would like to know whether Garmin is already aware of the problem, along with any available workaround or timeline for a fix.

Daily Suggested Workout Wont let me select 4 days for training

On my forerunner 970, I just noticed that in daily suggested workout settings it says "Select 3-7 Training Days", but when I got to deselect a day it says "A maximum of 2 rest days are allowed"
I just updated to software 17.33. I previously had 5 days selected as that was the minimum.

Sound volume question

20 year Garmin user, have been using the 965, just got the 970. What would cause the sounds for the whole watch to me barely auditable? Yes I went in and turned everything up to full, so I did a factory reset and everything is back to normal, any Ideas?

Pacing alerts all fired at end of workout

I went on a long, easy run/walk/run for my Garmin Coach Jeff Galloway plan. I setup the pacing alerts in my run activity. The watch did not trigger the 2:00 minute run alert and :30 second walk alert during the run. I had to keep looking at the watch to do it manually. Weirdly, once I hit the end of the workout, every single one of those fired immediately afterwards, vibrating for each one. There must have been 60+ alerts for almost 5 minutes, everything that was queued was flushed out.

I dont know what I did wrong, but I first started the workout, and then I picked the planned navigation. The navigation points were alerting during the run.

Heart rate reading all over the place

So for the past few days, my forerunner 970 has been reading my HR super inaccurately. Its been reading 20 or more BPM higher than my actual heart rate. If I go to the heart rate widget and broadcast my HR, or stay on the screen for 15 or so seconds it will then scan and read correctly. However if I leave that screen and start moving around again, it will go back to reading wrong.

The sensor is clean, the watch is only 3 or so months old and I have it tight and about 1 inch above my wrist bone.

This is extremely frustrating and not acceptable in my opinion for a watch of this caliber and at this price point...

Please someone advise how to get this resolved. Not much point in wearing this thing when its not doing its job correctly. Thanks

Whatsapp notifications not showing

The WhatsApp notification settings on my watch gets switched off and I then don’t get the message notifications. I then have to switch it back on on the watch. Why does it switch off by itself?
