(it was much better in 2023... for sure that the last GPS firmwares decreased its accuracy, this 13.00 is not good for sure. i am using my 2nd! (and probably there will be a 3rd one, this has barometer issue since 2months...) 965 and it had much better track on bike in the first 2 years (handlebar mount, same place and bike as in the last 3 years..)

no autopause, no stop/start, after 1hs of riding, on superclear sky, clear enviroment, FR965 on the carbon handlebar on Garmin rubber mount , (no radar or camera or any metal object nearby ) both are using the multiGNSS+multiBand setting ofc: the orange is the 965, blue is the 840 , what is this ~10m offset from nowhere? :D at least 32sats/signals were used according to Edge 840 hidden SAT menu... i have tons of duals , it is from yesterday. (in dense forest area it is worse ) if you tell me where is the hidden SAT menu in 965, i will do a comparison on the fly. (i assume it is not using the L5 signals or dropping one and/or more GNSS systems at certain point.)

Starting the activity before the watch fully locks onto satellites can lead to less stable data at the beginning, so giving it an extra 2-5 minutes can help (you can do this while you warm up). Nearby buildings, trees, or stadium structures can also interfere with signal and cause occasional drift, even on a track.

Here are a few things I would recommend:

Sync with the Garmin Connect app before recording activities. Doing so will update the Epidermis data on the watch, which predicts will satellites will be in the sky.

Soak the GPS before starting the activity. When the watch initially displays that the GPS is ready, it means that the watch has picked up the minimum amount of satellites needed to get your location. Soaking the GPS is the practice of allowing your watch additional time to communicate with satellites before you start moving for your activity. This allows your watch to communicate to additional satellites, creating a stronger bond and helping to reduce degradation of GPS signal.

Soaking the GPS may also help with the altitude jumps, but this FAQ has additional tips: Elevation Reading on Forerunner 955 or 965 Is Wrong

If you’re not already, using Track Run mode can help improve accuracy after a few laps. Using the Track Run Profile on My Compatible Garmin Watch

My total daily expenditure measured by the Forerunner 965 for that day was 4,409 kcal (2,572 kcal from activity and 1,837 kcal at rest). I have the feeling that the Forerunner 965 did not include my active energy expenditure of 3,608 kcal, which was recorded by the Edge 850 during the ride. I would have expected my total expenditure that day to be: Rest 1,837 kcal + Activity 2,572 kcal (965) + Activity 3,608 kcal (850), which adds up to 8,017 kcal. Can someone please help me understand how the energy‑expenditure values are recorded, what they mean, and whether this might be an error?

The correct value is probably 1,837 kcal for rest (965) + 3,608 kcal for cycling (850) + about 150 kcal for other daily activities (965), which comes to roughly 5,600 kcal.

There is a "notes" section in my workouts. How do I see it during swim intervals?
