Your second swim posted is way off. The push off isn't the problem as a weak one would undercount rather than overcount laps. However, changing speed or stroke in the middle of a lap will trigger an extra lap. You can definitely change in between laps. And as Garmin-LF said, if you stop and rest on the wall, use your lap button to stop pause and restart it so any movement does not trigger extra laps. The drill mode is useful when you do swim drills or kicks, in which case you manually enter the distance after completion. Doing this and following the instructions above results in excellent accuracy for me. But you can always count in your head and use drill mode to log your workout manually if you prefer.

pool length count accuracy

I just did a swim that my 955 recorded as 2033m.

Set the correct pool size prior to starting the activity.

Swim continuously throughout the length, using one stroke type at a consistent pace and stroke cadence.

Use a strong push-off from the wall and a long streamlining (glide) phase.

NOTE: The type of turn (flip, touch, open) does not matter as long as you have a long glide following the push-off.

Use one of the four recognized competitive stroke types (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly).

If resting between lengths, use rest intervals or ensure auto rest is enabled in settings.

If auto rest is enabled, minimize arm movement during rests or turn off auto rest and use the Lap button to mark rest intervals.

Use Drill Logging for drills that affect arm movement. If a drill log is not available, ensure auto rest is turned off and then use rest intervals for drills that affect arm movement.

If you are still having trouble with the accuracy, I would ensure the watch SW is up to date using Garmin Express. I would also recommend powercycling the watch.

RE: Indoor bike no longer connecting to Garmin Forerunner 955 after update

Having this issue with 955 and bowflex c6. Not an issue with the bike, as I can connect the bike to other apps and devices without issue. The only answer from Garmin support was to send my watch in for a replacement refurbished one, which I hesitate to do since this current Forerunner 955 that I have is only 6 months old. The Fenix range is too expensive and includes features I'll never use (touchscreen, microphone, speaker, skin temperature sensor, ECG).
The old Fenix 6 Pro would still be a really good option for me, although the GPS was not the best and the phone connectivity was problematic.

RE: pool length count accuracy

Swam again today I only swam 20 lengths which is 666meters. but the watch reported 1367meters. It works very well, but I'm missing the body temperature sensor, which would be useful for my health issues. However, I don't like the 970 at all and it's too expensive. The Fenix 8 is significantly down in price, but the stores I usually go to aren't stocking the solar version, only the AMOLED one. I'd like the Enduro 3, but it's too big for my wrist. The Instinc is aesthetically too bulky and doesn't have maps. I'm waiting for the Enduro 4, hoping they'll also produce a 47mm version. Otherwise, I don't see any viable alternatives in the catalog.

Scheduled workouts

When I start an activity and go to -> Workouts, there is no longer an option to view "Scheduled". However, stocking up on a watch that will eventually have outdated hardware and features probably isn't the best investment, and amoled displays will continue to improve. That is a pool length often used so that 3 lengths = 100m. if so, 60 lengths would = 2000m (plus it mistakenly added a length as noted). Being off by a length in a continuous swim of that length can easily happen by having to pass someone, slow down or stop and then accelerate, hitting hand against the lane line, scratching an itch etc. You can check the individual lap durations in GC to see where it may have added (or lost) lengths.
