Training suggestions - do both running and cycling?

This is my first tri-watch, and started cycling a cople of months ago. Do the watch calculate that you should be able too do both the cycling and running suggestions on the same day? They are always the same, long run/bike on the same day, treshold on the same day and so on. But the long run it suggets in not that long, and that got me thinking maybe i could/should do both?
