What if it's not Garmins fault?

I have a 955 with sw 12.23.

It's been working great, with 2 instances of dashed lines when walking.

2 days ago my phone upgraded to iOS16.

Now I experience the battery drain bug (from 67% to 31% in 8 hours), the backlight is going haywire (lights up during sleep hours), I have differences in the distancetracking on the same route from time to time, connectivity issues with the phone.

A logical conclusion here is that it's the update to the phone that somehow affected the watch to go all crazy.

Would be interesting to see if anyone else have noticed the same?

Are Android users affected by the above mentioned bugs?

Iphoneusers who are affected, what version of iOS are you on?

  • I am on 11.12 with a lot of bugs.. The update is worse... If not fix with a update bye bye GARMIN..hello ultra Apple watch..

  • My phone hasn't had an update in a year. It's the watch that forces the sync, not Connect. Stop this blame shifting.

  • Well, I still didn't experience the bugs other have posted in here until I upgraded to iOS 16. That's not blame shifting, that's an observation.

And I'm still interested in knowing if the problem is isolated to people using iOS-units, or if android users experience the bugs too.

After scanning the forums it seems that most people that experience the bugs are using OS. I hardly see android users posting problems. Which makes the question legit.

  • These issues have nothing to do with IOS. Training Effect is a Garmin Issues. The issues with GC app at the outset not doing various changes on the watch are a Garmin issue. The need to repair and reset to fix battery drain are a Garmin issue.... The beta just sent out clearly shows that they acknowledge the issues need addressing...now let's see if another Beta after this will sort the remaining items in time. At least they did try address some irritants in this beta

  • The battery drain issue is more complicated.

The drain could be caused by a bad connection or comstant sync. In a connection, it could be from either side ie phone or watch.

Some basic things to do for drain are

    • Reboot watch and phone
    • Toggle Bluetooth settings on watch and phone
    • Delete and add watch in GC
    • Use stock watch face
    • Factory reset as last resort
