Just got a new FR 955. Added it to Garmin Connect, all good, until... I started getting messages on the watch. I definitely and very consciously did *not* grant permission for the watch to access messages on my phone. What gives?

Not sure how to do for ios.
But for Android, you can configure the notifications. Just switch it off.
I notice every time I install a new app, the notifications are ON by default.
Android 13 fixes that, applications need to ask notification permissions <3
Oh waiting for 13 on my Pixel.
Just a small annoyance that I need to OFF myself.
