BUG - Light networking forming when looking at glances

I have the Garmin Radar rear light and the UT800 front light paired to my 955 for my commuting and i like the way they automatically come on / turn off when I start my 'Bike Commute' activity

However I've noticed, when I'm sat at my desk at work, with my helmet and lights sat here, if I look at my watch at start scrolling the glances - I get an alert 'Network Forming' and the lights come on - this can't be right can it?

  • Is this done using a (custom) connectiq field?

Because there is a bug where connectiq fields keep running in the background after an activity so that might explain something then... (Start and exit another activity or restart the watch to 'fix' it)

  • Yeah I have that issue too with another iQConnect field running (and draining my battery) on my runs after I finish them, however my Bike Commute activity has no custom IQConnect fields or custom screens - its just the default profile with no extras

  • I think it is because there no longer is a difference between widgets and activities/apps. My stryd is also connecting, when I look at downloaded widget/app now. But in genereal I find it annoying that sensors like Stryd are connected even for activities which doesn't contain the connectiq field. I hope it is a bug, that will be fixed, but my epix does it too. Workoutdoors on Apple Watch pairs external sensors per activity type and I like that.

  • interesting one... might test that with a widget as well (tested it with my own datafield to check if it indeed keeps on running in the background and that was the case).

  • yeah - they really needs the ability to select which sensors are connected to which activity, apart from this light forming bug, having my stryd connect when I'm cycling or weight training (when my trainers are in my bag) is also stupid.

  • I gave up on the light network when it constantly kept turning on while on the treadmill. This was on the 945, haven't tried it on the 955 but from the sounds of it the sensor scanning has not improved.

  • All-
