I left my 955 solar in the meddle of the Florida sun at 12pm for 60 mins and it didn't even go up 1% it actually went down 1%
Am I the only one?
Oh, one I developed myself (to minimize energy usage and have the things I want on there)

Yeah I feel it is not worth the money. But good for Garmin to sell.
Just me though.
That's why I opt for the non solar.
Leaving the watch at the sun in the middle of the day is not a good idea. The watch stops charging, if it gets overheated. It is stated in the user manual.
On my Instinct 2 Solar I can charge the battery by solar, but Garmin claims more battery life for the Instinct 2 that for the Forerunner 955. I think the solar area is also bigger, but not 100% sure.
Seeing your question here I've ported my Battery Guesstimate Widget to Forerunner 955, it should show you the battery changes more accurate: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/572b8232-7fb6-4e4f-a938-2395d0df3c7c
would be interesting to know if you can make the solar actually charging you watch
thanks. i may give a whirl although i think i'm content now with my usual faces using up 5-6% in general. thankfully, i haven't had any phantom losses overnight as others have observed due to my minimal fields and only using Garmin HRMs as an ANT device.
