Forerunner 955 Series Solar on the 955 is BS?

Solar on the 955 is BS?

I left my 955 solar in the meddle of the Florida sun at 12pm for 60 mins and it didn't even go up 1% it actually went down 1%

Am I the only one?

Oh, one I developed myself (to minimize energy usage and have the things I want on there)

Yeah I feel it is not worth the money. But good for Garmin to sell.

That's why I opt for the non solar.

Leaving the watch at the sun in the middle of the day is not a good idea. The watch stops charging, if it gets overheated. It is stated in the user manual.

Yeah I feel it is not worth the money. But good for Garmin to sell.

I guess it also depends on your watch face.

Without solar, you could have drained more battery ?

Watch face? What does a Watch face have anything to do? The Watch was doing literally nothing under the sun, I wasn't running gps or anything and still went down 1% but to answer your question I was using the Watch face that came with the Watch.

I've even seen it increase on mine, and that's in the Netherlands...

It does do something for me, not worth a 100 bucks but because i also like the looks better I'm happy with it in the end

The watch face does affect your battery drain. This is a known fact.

The % of change is just a function of watch face + solar + settings + activities

how do you do it then? For those running a ultra marathon have to be hiding the watch from the sun because a Solar watch that is supposed be getting sun light is overheating?

I don't do it, I don't have the solar version :-)

I am just saying, what does the user manual claim, nothing more.
