VO² max

My VO² max has been in 49 for about 6 weeks and my training status maintenance,no matter what type of training i did. I have the 955 2 weeks and last Friday it change to 50 , however , despite my runs of yesterday and today ended with a performance condition of+3  my expected race time decrease. If i sync with my 745 give me picking and prediction times different. And my training focus remaining always the same, i think this watch is a little bit buggy. Are we beta testers? :-)

  • Exactly the same problem here. It looks like historical data hasn't been imported to the 955 correctly. We're not the only ones.

I opened a ticket with support on Friday but no response yet.

  • If you look at the DC rainmaker review of the watch, this seems to be a bug that is resolved with a few weeks use of the device.  Check his review.

  • If your VO2max is stable then your training status should be stable too unless you are rapidly inceasing or decreasing your training volume. So maintenance seems to be right.

Vo2max of 955 is so-so. Its not jumping around like with 745. Ive used 955 for 2 months now and my vo2max has stayed the same or decreased a bit. I feel it should be little higher than Garmin shows. Year ago it was measured 46 or 47 but Garmin shows 43. My friend who has fenix7 has measured vo2max 72 but Garmin shows 65. I feel that might be the case, 5-10% lower than real number? Dont know why, maybe something to do with how much you are training and what itensity... Garmin seems to "like" high itensity workouts straight from the beginning to the end. If you do easy runs or somekind of warmup and cooldown, that will seem to decrease the vo2max of the workouts?!

Race prediction is wierd i agree. For example i made 3km slow walk with my family and that boosted all of my race prediction times by 2-3min. Garmin shouldnt calculate vo2max with so low HR and without vo2max there should be no effect to my running condition. Probably some bug. Although predicted times are rather faster than 745, especially considering lower calculated vo2max values.

  • i had the 945 where it was jumping arround every training, on this watch it is much more steady(like in the real world).

2 weeks ago i did a lab VO2max test, result (58) matches exactly with the watch.

so for me it is working well, increasing VO2max takes several weeks to acheive. so not going up or down 1-2 points every training looks positive to me.

on the other hand the rece predictor is way of on my side, on the 945 all was way to fast on the 955 its the other way arround.  i ran allready faster than the predictions, but the daily workout advised speeds are in line what i got advised to train on. but there is a trendline (great feature) so you can see is increase or decrease depending on what you are doing.
