Error in zones ?

Am i the only one to have issues with zones ?

while cycling today and running too, i found out that at 130bpm it is setting me to the maximum HR

at the same time i checked the zone on the watch and on the app and it seems to be OK

  • I've been hit by this as well - the device seeming to arbitrarily change my zones.  I've disabled the Max HR detection option in the hopes this will stop.

However, I ran a zoned workout today and I got hammered when the zones weren't what I was expecting.  I ran to what I know is the correct HR, but Garmin Connect insisted that my workout score was 14%.

I'm guessing that the auto detection of Max HR will update workouts with the new zones, but the workouts don't get updated if you set your own zones in Garmin Connect.

  • Hi, I have a similar problem with Garmin Connect. I have the device set to auto update and am basing my HR zones on %HRR. I recently reset my RHR and as a result the Time in Zones is showing everything as Zone 5. Looking at the bands it is clearly using RHR as the value and ignoring completely the MHR value. the HR zones are shown as Z1 40-41bpm, Z2 42-43, Z3 43-44, Z4 44-45, Z5 45-46. Previously and before I changed the RHR value, the time in zones were actually working out correctly. Seems like a bug to me.... Any help?

  • Have been doing a little more checking and this seems to be a software issue. My RHR is set to auto average but it is consistently using the custom RHR field. I have changed the way the zones are calculated from HRR to %MHR and back again. I then set it to calculate zones based on bpm and then checked the zones. All the zones show as incrementing in 1% bands but you cannot then change the band percentages. Set things back to %HRR also does not allow you to change the zones beyond 1% increments. Consequently the time in zones on Garmin connect is worthless

  • wonder why we dont have a fix much more faster

  • Any update on this, I am having the exact same issue

  • Nope, we have to wait till Garmin finally releases a new software update addressing all these things... Hopefully they do that quickly!
