17.4 Update - Total Ascent Too High

My friend and I have a 945LTE that's consistently recording total ascent 200-250' too high on 60min runs after updating to Garmin 17.4 software a few weeks ago. The runs normally have 350' ascent and the last 8 runs have recorded around 550'. I've cleaned the barometer hole, recalibrate altimeter and soft reset the watch. Nothing helped.

I am having some trouble setting up a pyramid swim with fixed time intervals for the rest.

I want to do this: Swim 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

The rest I get between steps will be [(2:00 x distance) - time it took to swim]. So, for example, on the 500, I will have 10 minutes to complete it. Whatever I finish under 10 minutes will be my rest before I start off for the next step.

The only way I have found to set up a time interval for rest is when I do repeats, but in this case I am not repeating anything, just moving on to a new step.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Just in case you get something similar...

When I try to download an Spotify playlist to my Forerunner 945 LTE: it asks "Fi-Fi is off. Turn on?" in order to download the content and, after answering "yes", an error saying "Battery is too low to connect to Wi-Fi" is shown in spite of having a 100% full battery.

No success after having tried to reinstall the Spotify app, using a different Wi-Fi, switching off/on the Wi-Fi before the action, downloading with the watch plugged to a charger,...

-SW (system, Wi-Fi,...) versions seems up to date.

Hi. Just had the same error on Venu 2s when I was trying to download Spotify playlists and I was getting this error of “Battery is too low to connect to WiFi” despite the watch being fully charged.

I tried the following and it fixed the issue!

1) Uninstalling the Spotify app from the Garmin app/watch

2) Disconnecting the watch from the wifi

3) Reconnecting the watch to the WiFi

4) Reinstalling the Spotify app in the Garmin app/watch

After doing the above steps, I went to download playlists and I didn’t get the error anymore. Able to us play music now from the watch :). Hope this helps!

How to fix the 3.00 WiFi bug?

Seem this mentioned a few times I appreciate the 945lte is old but managed to get a new one cheap.

it came with some old software version 4xxx but WiFi worked fine, I updated to 17.xx and now doesn’t find any WiFi networks.

The WiFi version is 3.00, I’ve read 4.00 fixes the issue but how do I update the WiFi?

Disable lap button during workouts

Hello,

I own a fr945LTE and I want to disable the lap button completely. I can disable it in the app settings (laps -> lap button off) but the option seems to be ignored with garmin coach workout or daily suggested workouts.

This thing is pretty annoying since during workouts I often press the back button when going back from the map or the music menu. If a HR alert pops in (which can't be disabled too SIGH) exaclty while I'm pressing the button, then the workout is over.

Does the same behaviour happen in the fenix line too or is it a bug of the 945LTE?

My words... Just don't understand, why there is still no setting to turn on/off a confirmation of this button press... Ruined so many workouts on the watches of me and my girl friend as well... :-O

This confirmation just could be turned on or off in the settings, and everything for everyone would be fine, right?

Ruined already sooo many workouts because of an accidental button press after using the map or the music function... But this problem seems to be huge for so many people over years already. Why is Garmin not reacting to this? Those watches are almost perfect, but this error persists again and again... Strange!

The bug is about wrong German translation of the word "walk" in Garmin Coach, it is translated to "Laufen" in certain contexts, which means "run", and this yields a terribly wrong training! So it is critically important that this translation bug be fixed as soon as possible!

Concretely, I am using the "Coach Jeff" for Half-Marathon training. I am German and all my watch and Garmin Connect are set to German language, but nevertheless the training commands on my Forerunner 945 LTE (latest SW 14.52) are sometimes displayed in English and sometimes in German (no idea why, this is probably another bug, but no problem for me, since both German and English are equally fine for me).

Now, during the training, for example during the cadence drill we have 30 sec running intervals followed by 30 seconds recovery intervals, and the English text for the latter reads on the watch: "Walk for recovery"!

However, in German this same command reads "Laufen Sie, um sich zu erholen"! This is catastrophically wrong, as it means "Run for recovery"!!!!!!!!!

The correct German command should show "Gehen Sie, um sich zu erholen"!

Please fix this critically wrong translation bug immediately, as it causes wrong training!!!!!

If I had not had the luck of getting the English language commands displayed in my first training sessions, I wouldn't have known that I am supposed to "walk" - not "run" - during the recovery periods, and I would have performed a wrong training! I would have "run" instead of "walked" during the recovery phases, which would have been utterly wrong!

PS: Note that the word "walk" is not translated wrongly at all instances, but only sometimes! For example, for the 5-minute warm-up or cool-down phases the watch correctly gives me the command to "walk of jog lightly", both in English and German. So here, the word "walk" is correctly translated with "gehen" and not "laufen".

v17.28 (v15.19) (V7.11) - Final ETE and Final Distance Alerts Go Off During Strava Segments

I have setup the Navigation Alerts for Final Distance (0.6mile) and Final ETE (1:15minute) as described in the manual:

Setting Navigation Alerts You can set alerts to help you navigate to your destination.

From Watch Face Hold Menu Button

Select Settings > Navigation > Alerts.
Select an option:
1. To set an alert for a specified distance from your final destination, select Final Distance.
2. To set an alert for the estimated time remaining until you reach your final destination, select Final ETE

The wording in the manual suggests that I should get these alerts when navigating a course at a Final Distance and ETE for that course. During a Strava Live segment, I get these alerts and they seem to be associated with the end point of the Segment, not the course I'm navigating. In fact, I'll get the Final Distance and ETE alerts associated with a Live Segment even if I'm not navigating a course.

Spectator messaging send a Message to the Forerunner 945 LTE without a notification. Just
the Message popup for some seconds und close again. To read a Message i must look
all the Time at the Forerunner 945 LTE ?

Spectator messaging is unusable.

i wish a update.

1. Notification for a incomming Message with vibration and audio to my Headset
2. don´t close the Message until i read it an push a button

I completed the following workout and it was a 17 hour total time run through the Grand Canyon. I needed to turn off wrist HR to keep the battery from dying on me, and now i'm getting nearly no effect for the workout.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what's needed to get this to "count" as it's ruining a lot of my Garmin metrics to use load/effort this month for other workouts.

this is absolutely mindblowingly stupid. How the *** is it not possible to manually add an estimated training load and then let the watch retroactively calculate/adjust your performance stats?? Is this a technical impossibility or again a planned restriction?? I own a watch and hrm pro plus. Please Garmin what else do I have to buy??

FWIW, I've also experienced significantly worse LTE connectivity after the FW update. Places in the neighborhood where I've never had issues in the several years I've used it are now dropping out. If there's any kind of debug work going on, I'd be happy to contribute some more data.

Hi Hannah!
Since the last update to 17.40 version last Friday, my 945 LTE watch has switched off (not restart but complete turning off) for 5 times without any reason -three times on Friday and twice today. Not in activity, just wearing it. Am I the only one with this trouble? Could you please help me with this issue?

I’m sorry to hear about the broken watch, my LTEA hasn’t been working for the last year and now it is fixed after the update.
