Elevation incorrect on Garmin Forerunner 245 when running laps

I have a new Garmin Forerunner 245 and have noticed a persistent problem with the elevation recording when running laps. It records enormous elevation gain every lap on a flat track like you are doing hill repeats. But if you just do a normal run (not laps) then the elevation recorded seems correct.

Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue.

Garmin what is up with this?

  • Can you post a link to one of the affected activities?

Anyway, since the 245 doesn't have a barometric altimeter, the resulting altitude gain may come from inaccurate DEM data in garmin connect.
