LTHR - Very different values between Auto Detect and a 30-min LTHR test

Hello all,

I've just completed a best-effort 5K run to test my PB as well as LTHR. I did the run in just 26:30 - not full 30 minutes that a 30-min LTHR test would require, but quite close and I believe it's a meaningful reference.

The average heart rate from 10 min to 26:30 was 176 BPM, while Garmin watch's Auto Detect gave a new LTHR of 166 BPM. I wear a Forerunner 935 plus a chest heart rate strap and so the HR readings should be accurate.

I wonder how I should reconcile / understand these two vastly different values? Which one should I use?

For reference, I had been using 168 BPM as my LTHR during my usual training and I had been comfortable with it. However, I've also wondered if it is a little too low, i.e. I'm not maxing out my efforts when I should during training.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
