Forerunner 935 Glass Defect

Glass Defect

I have owned a 935 for 30 months. Last week I noticed a defect in the glass (circled in the image); it is not scratched, and appears to be a delamination below the outer layer.

I'm concerned it may grow and obscure the information display, or imply a breakdown of the watertight integrity.

Should I be concerned, and if so, can it be rectified?

I'd say you should be concerned. You may want to contact Garmin support. You may be offered a refurbished replacement to purchase at a discount. But if it still works, you might as well ride it out.

Could it be a screen protector?

If you added one, yes. Mine protector looks like that at the end of its life (>1 yr). Hope so.

Thanks for the suggestion Carmen_F - I haven't used a protector, so I guess it is the original glass which is somehow degraded

Fingers crossed. A screen protector has saved me a couple of times, but it wouldn't prevent that.

Mine started like that and now arcs all the way to the "u" on the middle up button. (no screen protector) I'm hesitant to leave it on around the pools this summer. I'm concerned about water damage. Anyone else having this issue? Is it safe to swim with? What did Garmin end up doing about it? I'm hoping to ride it out until the next model.

Hi I retuned to Garmin (along with the proof of purchase) and it was replaced with a refurbished device at no cost. Great service :-)

Me pasó exactamente lo mismo. Pero servicio técnico Garmin no ofreció solución. Se me rompieron 2 relojes Garmin en 3 años y 2 fajas cardíacas en 2años. Triste experiencia con Garmin. Me voy de la marca.
