Has anyone a link to beta 12.80?

Does anyone have a link to beta 12.80? On Garmin I can only find a link to beta 13.51

At the moment I'm on firmware 13.30 and have battery drains during workout, 10% per hour in stead of 5% per hour.

This doesn't sound much, but I used to charge my watch every 2 weeks and now within 1 week I have to charge again and more important: I have to charge the watch before I go out for a run or a ride. That's very annoying.

Newer firmwares are not any better, if I read the comments (also on the similar fenix 5). Doesn Garmin not test their firmwares on battery life? (I suspect the answer is a disappointing no)

Also, for me, bluetooth connection was more stable with firmware 12.xx. That's a problem Garmin acknowledged, but cannot/hasnot/willnot fix, so it seems.

If anyone has a link to the older 12.80 beta version I would be very grateful.

  • Maybe you can find it here: gawisp.com/.../

I would also suggest you try soft reset (press and hold Light button until the watch is off) prior to downgrading. That helps often, your settings / data will not be lost.

  • You don't want to know how many times I have restarted my watch, or softreset as you call it. Doesn't help. Also switch from gps/galileo to only gps (although galileo support came in fw 9 I think and didn't cause any significant battery drain then) didn't helped.

    But thanks for the link!

    First try what  suggested

going for the beta route anyway ?

I would suggest a full reset to defaults first Slight smile and stay on the last firmware version

because, while installing the beta you are doing a full reset to defaults

I know we are no beta testers, but it is what it is ... Garmin Wink

  • From the beta I can do a roll back to 12.5

that’s relative the best (least buggy) firmware I have experienced in 2 years garmin. 2 years is a bit short for me. I like te keep my devices aslong as posible to limit e-waste.

    ok,

you can downgrade direct to 12.50

use the "GUPDATE-1250.GCD" file from the 1285beta zip

rename to GUPDATE.GCD, place it in the GARMIN folder

    restart

and yes I agree with you that 12.50 was the most stable version that I have used

things you can get back by putting the original .fit files in the newfiles folder

    totals, settings, location, ...

and you can use physio true up getting your training status back

have a search in the forum....plenty of info what can be done....

    Garmin Q&A : Backup - Restore

    but

downgrade resets your device, ok ?

so why not stick with the lastest software for a while

but, do a complete reset to defaults as would happen with a downgrade ?

and check the latest firmware instead of doing the downgrade and.......
