How do I save an activity when start button does not work?

The start/stop button on my 935 has started to malfunction lately and today I managed to start an activity but when my race was over I could not stop it. I managed to stop the activity by forcing a reboot of the device. But I’m still stuck at the screen where I’m asked if I want to save my activity - which I would like. But since the start button does not work I can not confirm the choice.

Are there any workarounds for this? Is it possible to use Garmin connect on mobile to simulate button presses or similar? Or is the option simply to give up?

Unless you can get the button to work there's nothing you can do. Contact Garmin Support and see what options they offer.

OK thanks, that was my first assumption. But you never know if someone knows a workaround...

Can you access the .fit-file or similar of an ongoing activity when you connect the watch to a computer? That could be a workaround.

I think the current activity will be saved if you connect your watch to a computer. Not sure if it has to be paused tho. You can always try it.

Pretty sure this is the case. Plug it in to the computer and it will save the file. Definitely won't try to hold it across plug-ins. Note this is not the case if you just plug it into a charging cable rather than the computer.
