Zwift direct upload to watch

I recently started using Zwift, when I finish a ride it directly uploads to Strava, Training Peaks etc. but I have no history on my watch! I can upload the FIT file from the Zwift folder to Garmin Connect, but I want it on the watch so it shows in my watches weekly totals, history, calories etc. is there anyway to do this? It's really annoying
Cheers

That is not what Philip said.

Your Garmin wearable device creates activity records, utilising internal and/or external sensors that collect data for metrics that are relevant for the activity, and then makes those records available to the Garmin Connect platform upon syncing (and, in most cases, also retains a copy on the watch's own filesystem from which the file can be retrieved via USB).

Your Garmin device is not designed or intended to be a receiver of activity records created by any other device (even other Garmin-branded devices such as bicycle computers in the Edge product range), even if you upload those ‘foreign’ activity records to Garmin Connect. Nor is it designed to be a client of the Garmin Connect service for reviewing your Garmin Connect account; upon syncing, your wearable device will retrieve data/parameters from your user profile that are required for it to properly perform calculations for future activity records that it creates, but that's it.

It's more “stupid” to form expectations as a user of a particular product or piece of technology only on the basis of what you want or what would be convenient for you, without understanding either the design intention or the platform architecture.

You can want whatever you want, and it's your prerogative to find something (or some omission) annoying, but that does not mean anyone is obliged to try to accommodate your preferences.

As I said I'm fairly new to this and came here to ask the question as its an open forum, I'm not an specialist in this area like you obviously are. Thanks for your reply.
  • Another way of thinking about this is that the Zwift program is another Garmin watch. Like a Garmin watch you pair sensors to the Zwift program and it records some of that "as is" - i.e. your power, HR and cadence. It is only the speed (and hence distance) that it "makes up" as that is the "game" element of Zwift.

So on your actual Garmin watch if you make those same connections (with the addition of a speed sensor) it will record your ride - pretty much as if you were staring at your wall instead of the Zwift screen.
  • I paired my TACX Neo, gtc10, power2max and HR strap both - ti zwift and to 935 and have two workouts recorded - Zwift sends activity to Strava adn 935 has it internally to calculate all the phisical condition data - while almost the same present in Strava Premium account (fitness FTP etc) - i'm still playing with stress in 935
  • Just to add on, when paired with a 'smart' trainer, ZWIFT is awesome. Been using it since December 2015; changed my cycling training forever.

Bit rubbish as OP said that the devices cannot be in sync. I use an Edge for cycling outside and 935 for running, so training load means nothing to me :(
  • You could still record your rides on your 935 as well as your Edge which in fact is exactly what I do so that the training load does then mean something to me.

  • I can connect my speed and cadence to a Forerunner 935 while Zwifting?  I am new to Garmin. My apologies.

  • My Forerunner has no indoor or virtual cycling mode.
