Repairing a Garmin 210 watch strap

Having looked on the Internet for an effective way to mend or replace the strap of my Garmin 210 and not found a suitable answer, I believe I have a very good alternative to what is out there.

  1. Use super glue to stick the strap back together where it broke. Let it dry and is fully set.
  2. Cut two pieces of Velcro, one a little longer than the other, so that the longer piece fits inside the holes on the strap.

  3. Thread the longer piece through two holes either side of the original break in the strap.

  4. Stick the shorter piece of Velcro on the inside of the strap over the two ends of the longer piece.

Although the strap cannot be fastened where it was originally, because of the extra thickness of the strap around my wrist I now fasten it a couple of holes wider.

I have used it several times without any problems, including in heavy rain. So far it holds perfectly.
