Fenix 6S

Well I am now. :) The 5S Plus was a fair bit chunkier at 15.4mm thick, but a leak says 13.8mm for the 6S, compared to 13.5mm for the 645. (That's from the chart provided by the5krunner.) I'll remain skeptical until it's released. I doubt the barometer will be significantly better; aside from perhaps a larger port, it will probably come down to firmware. Straps are easy and inexpensive to replace.

The thickness / weight of the 5S / 5S+ was a deal breaker for me. Combined with the narrow strap which offered little support, it just moved around on my wrist when I was sweaty. Not sure if the weight is the same on the 6S but being lower profile definitely helps for running.

Also being a Fenix you get the altimeter widget.

The Fenix 6S Plus/Sapphire (above) looks like what I always wanted the original Fenix 5S to be. Looked at the specs and it's close to being a deluxe version of the 645M. Thickness has reduced to 13.8mm (down from 15mm on F5S, and almost the same as the 13.5mm for the 645M); weight has reduced from 67g on the F5S to 61g on the F6S Pro; the bezel has shrunk in size; they improved the case design so it's more angular; OHR has been improved; those ugly lugs on the F5S have shrunk in size; and the strap looks a bit wider and more supportive compared to that girly strap they used on the F5S.

Looks good to me.

That's exactly what I'm thinking about. 6s PRO instead of 645M. But acc to me the price is quite "wtf"... 

There is a step up in build quality with this over the Forerunner series including a stainless steel back, but I agree that £699 is quite frankly ridiculous, but then again I thought the 945 was very over-priced for a full plastic watch.

At the moment, if you want a high-end fully featured running watch in 42mm size, the only options are the 645 and now the Fenix 6S. The 945 is too big for some people and I personally think the design is a bit ugly.

The Fenix 6S Sapphire looks like a handsome watch, like a small Fenix 6 instead of one designed to look feminine. But it’s whether or not you want to carry another 20 grams on your wrist for more features and better build quality, and are prepared to shell out a lot of money for the privilege.

Thanks for that breakdown. Everything you listed is why I went with the 645. I think it'll be fine for another year
