Always on display, I set my watch to both during and not during activity to NEVER timeout, yet the display still dims. I don't mind charging it every day. Gestures are on, but not always reliable to light the display up when twisting my wrist. I have sent in for a replacement, but my wife's (same watch) fails as well. I am wondering if it's the 645 series that has the problem. Originally the watch did keep the display lit when on the desk, then, as instructed I did a total system reboot, and back to timing out when I have it set not to. Anyone else with another type of Garmin getting theirs to stay on, not that anyone would, but I do. Going from a bright and brilliant looking Fitbit to this much dimmer watch takes some getting used to and for my eyes, I prefer the always on display. Thanks.

  • You might need to set it twice to check that the setting has really changed.  I can confim it works on my device. You are unlikely to get a as much as a day out of the battery though as it's really not designed to be used like that. Gestures won't always work on any phone.  Personally, I have gestures off because I don't find it a huge issue to press the light button when I need it.

Out of interest, why did you buy a Garmin, which is designed for sports and the outdoors (and which to me has a much more readable screen in sunlight than any other), rather than a Fitbit/iPhone/Samsung, whose LED 'brilliant' screens look much better in low light/indoors?
