Losing GPS

Good morning,

On the past 2 runs my GPS has lost signal part way through the run (I have a stryd connected and some bluetooth earphones) this was an issue long ago, but it had seemed to have been resolved. It is mighty annoying that all of a sudden it completely drops, and the mapping feature no longer works. Is there any fix for this? I am all up to date firmware wise.

Thanks,
Joe
  • Happened again this morning - this is now 3 days in a row. Any help would be massively appreciated!

    Thanks,

  • Post a link to an activity and upload FIT.
  • On todays activity you stopped recording with a button press at 7:14 for at least two minutes and then resumed. Why?
  • I quickly went home to put a hat on due to freezing rain!!! Terrible excuse I know - GPS was fully locked in when I restarted
  • Thanks for looking at this - I updated my STRYD app, and the same thing happened today. Really do not want to lose GPS with Boston coming up - have you got any thoughts? It was one of the first models shipped so it is now out of warranty - do you know if newer versions have a similar issue?

    Todays run:

  • The mishaps have only resurfaced in the last couple of days, before that it has been fine for about 6 months. The maps thing is more of a cosmetic thing - I still get good distance and pace measurements from stryd - I just get annoyed I don’t have the visual Strava aspect!!! Although without stryd I assume it would be completely useless!!
  • Possibly check that your device still has free space. On my 235, when I ran out of space, it compiled a run summary that it was able to upload, but it didn't save/log gps track. The 645 does not auto-remove old, synced files. That's a really stupid thing to not have a setting to change. I'd prefer any activities older than 30 days which have been synced to GCM to automatically be removed.
  • This has now happened again on my past 2 runs with a replacement watch. I am really not sure what is going on - surely this issue should be sorted and that the watch shouldn't just completely lose GPS. If I pause and resume later it immediately locks back on and is then perfect - the issue is I have to pause my run, and often I am not sure at what point the GPS might go. I have done soft and hard resets and also changed the watch - but still it keeps coming back... Interestingly when I was out in Kenya there was never an issue. I live in a small town so it should not be affected by buildings are there are none that are big enough here to negatively impact on it.
