Software inaccuracy in processing the GNSS tracking information (SW version: 16.28)

Recently, I noticed that quite often (30% of my running activities) the Forerunner 570 is reporting wrongly the actual distance and my pace consequently.

The proof is that exporting the .GPX file to any viewer (like https://gpx.studio/ ), the discrepancy between the total distance in the watch and this website is in the order of 400-500 meters in 10km running session. It is certainly a software processing problem of the GNSS live data in the watch, because the accuracy on the registered data (.GPX) is rather accurate when shown in the web application, see below.

For completeness, this problem is appearing either with "Satellite setting - GPS only" or with "Satellite setting - All systems".

Are you aware of this software problem? Have you any suggestions to fix it ?

  • Friend, I've been in contact with technical support since January 2026, informing them that I've noticed a large variation in my running pace, even though in practice the pace is practically constant; for example, when I'm running at a pace of 7'00" and it shows 7'40", then it updates to 7'00", five seconds later it drops to 6'30", two seconds later it goes up to 7'10". I don't really know what my pace is. And I'll say more: you can select any type of satellite configuration, because some days the watch goes crazy, some days it seems to be working fine. And the terrain where I run doesn't have buildings, just some trees, this shouldn't happen!
    I'm already tired of this.

  • Many thanks Rafael. Any concrete feedback or answers fro the technical support?
Actually, also for me I would say that everything could have been started around January 2026. I bought my Forerunner 570 in August 2025, and for several months I was not noticing this GNSS accuracy.
The watch is rather expensive and it could not be that GARMIN is not aware ...

Or could it be related only to some released hardware in some watches?
Let's see if somebody from the Technical support is giving an answer in this threat.
    Thanks!

    Stefano

  • Solve it !!!!

The issue was that my HRM-Pro was set as the source for the running pace and distance ....
According to the article below, the HRM-Pro is providing by default running pace and distance when GPS is not available, such as during treadmill running or if you lose GPS when running outdoors.
However, according to the Gamin Support, my activities were all using always the HRM info and not the GPS in the watch.
This explains why the GPX file is not aligned with the Garmin Connect visualization.

Today I ran without the HRM setting for providing running distance, and the watch information has been really good. Honestly, I think that it is a software bug that is overriding always the GPS from the watch with the HRM sensors.

Anyway ... If you have the same accuracy issues, please disable the HRM-Pro data !

    Ciao, Stefano

  • I'm still noticing inaccuracies in the data displayed on the 570's screen regarding the actual pace versus the pace shown on the screen. It takes a while to show the correct pace, even though the GPS seems to be recording it correctly, but the watch display shows different numbers. I made a post on the forum; take a look at the attached file.

  • Your information is very very interesting. Thank's you very much.
