I had a similar case, only I lost the ability to use Bike.
I connected my watch to my computer and checked the Sports folder.
There was no CyclingBike.fit file. And after synchronization the file did not…
My watch lost the "Other" activity. I checked as below and indeed the .fit file was missing. I borrowed my friend's Forerunner 45 and copypasted the .fit file to the Sports folder and this at the moment…
I have the same issue, I have tried multiple times adding through the App, or through teh website. It apprears as a 'displayed activity' but does not appear on the watch -

I think in your case the WalkingWalk.fit file has disappeared.
I found a solution here that seemed to work for me

It was quick to set up again via the connect app and bluetoothing the watch once more. I then set teh activites to those i wanted: run, bike, walk and it worked after sycing

The "WalkingWalk.fit" file was indeed missing.
I executed the reset, and added my watch - as if it was a new device - to my Garmin Connect app, et voila, it works as desired again.
