45s records run but does not count steps

I went for a 9k run this morning, my 45S recorded the run but has not recorded any steps? This is the 3rd time this has happened, each time I have lost the steps.

I can see some others have had this problem but unfortunately can't see any helpful answers or a response from Garmin?

I have reset my watch and phone, am running up to date software on watch and up to date app on phone. No triangle issues with watch.
