Accidental/Unintended Multisport?! Accidental Unlock?

Hi everyone,

I have an issue when using my Forerunner 255 for 'circuit training' / hiit-like strength training:
The watch at some point makes the acitivity into a 'Multisport' activity.
I tried using the strength training and the other activity, but the problem occurs with both. I have set the watch to auto-lock and I disabled the lap-button for these activities.
I don't (intentionally) interact with the watch at all during the workout.

Any idea why this happens? Today it happened with this activity:  https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/11494588936
(I manually changed one of the activities to 'strength training'.

I'm also confused by the very short duration of the first activity - I'm pretty sure that I didn't accidentally press anything in this first minute, as I was basically standing around listening to the explanations of the instructor.

The middle one is the bulk of the workout and the last one is mainly the stretching part.

Does the watch autoamtically create a Multisport activity based on heart rate or changes in movement patterns?
Or what else could cause this accidental multisport change ?

Any tips are greatly appreciated :)

Best regards
Felix

  • How does the activity record look in the watch menus? Could it just be the connect website showing the data differently?

Do you have the MoveIQ function enabled? As I understand it, this guesses your behavior from sensor data. If it is enabled, you might try disabling it before you try this kind of activity again...

  • The activity record on the watch looks the same as in the web app, it's also a Multisport activity:

Yes, I have 'MoveIQ' enabled - but does this really affect how an activity is recorded? That would be really bad :(
