FR 235 keeps recording inaccurate distance

During the run, it is consistently underreporting my distance/pace (I'm very familiar with the approximate distances in my neighborhood). But when I download the run, it appears that anywhere from the last .4-1 mile of my runs are missing from the map (note: I always finish where I started).  Also notable is that around when the missing distance starts on the map, the elevation just flattens out and appears to stop registering.

Here are some examples:

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

  • A wrong pace occurs when GPS is lost, if it happens rarely, then just turn off and on a watch sometimes and sync with Connect.

It can be also a problem with high buildings or dark forest.

  • The watch does not indicate GPS is lost - it continues to register pace and distance (inaccurately) in real time, but then when I download the run afterwards, it's missing the last part of the run.

  • Well yes, the watch can register pace and distance also using accelerometer (but not as accurate as with good GPS) and on standard view there is no status of GPS - it only pop-ups at the start.

Rarely when it was lost completely, and recovered later - it drew a straight line from point where lost to point where recovered. If you end an activity during that, then it will just end at lost point.

You can download a DataField from the Apps site for GPS status, then add it by Connect IQ menu to view it in real time. There are 5 possible values of GPS accuracy:

    0 NOT_AVAILABLE
    1 LAST_KNOWN
    2 POOR
    3 USABLE
    4 GOOD
