Watch history completely deleted after plugging into Connect? How? Why? What?

Returned from a run, snapped the charging clip on the watch and got a message on Connect that there were some network issues or something along those lines. 30 minutes later, watch is charged, attempt to upload run via the app--but there's no run on my watch any more. In fact, there's absolutely no history there any more.  Where did it go? Anybody else have issues where the entire history on your watch just up and goes away?
