SECOND activity of two this date is not syncing to web or Android app. VivoSport device, up-to-date software. What to do?

Garmin VivoSport had been working perfectly up to today.  I got an update to my Android system Samsung phone, which I'd suspect, except that one activity synced okay.  Then following that activity by about a half an hour or so, I tracked a second activity (strength training) and it seemed as though the watch was tracking as well as usual (it often miscounts reps, but I'm used to that).  It does not appear that activity ever connected to the app on the phone, and naturally as a result it isn't showing up on the desktop CONNECT pages, either.
