Activities missing in Garmin Connect

Any one else having issues with Activities showing on the VivoSport but not in Garmin Connect.
Every once in a while I will record an activity and save it but it does not upload.
This morning I had a 3 mile walk and recorded it but it did not show. Later I did a 1 mile walk and it popped right into Garmin Connect.
Both activities show on the VivoSport.
  • Hard to say conclusively but I think something is not 100% with my device. It seems to run a self-check on each restart (when I plug the watch into USB) as a file is written in the GARMIN/EVNTLOGS folder, which contains a worrying amount of entries such as this:

Not sure if that is 'normal', but I have a strong susipcion it's not.

I did a chkdsk manually from Windows as well which provided the following output:

Removing trailing folder entries from \GARMIN\NEWFILES
\GARMIN\SPORTS\0RRUN.FIT first allocation unit is not valid. The entry will be truncated.
\GARMIN\SPORTS\2CBIKE.FIT first allocation unit is not valid. The entry will be truncated.
\GARMIN\SPORTS\4CARDIO.FIT first allocation unit is not valid. The entry will be truncated.
\GARMIN\SPORTS\5GENERIC.FIT first allocation unit is not valid. The entry will be truncated.
\GARMIN\SPORTS\6WALKING.FIT first allocation unit is not valid. The entry will be truncated.
File and folder verification is complete.

My best guess at the moment is some form of corrupted or damaged internal storage on the watch. Will try one more run with it before returning it for a replacement unit.

Thanks for that. It would make sense to the random nature of fault as my partners watch doesnt have issue. I see lots of other complaints of a very similar nature on-line, question is, if you can diagnose this, what cant Garmin or why cant Garmin even acknowledge its an issue and fix it? I suspect its not big enough for Garmin to care that much or some would say, its not in their interest to. My watch is out of warranty, guess they expect you to buy a new one, I wont be, they have been zero help, as this forum shows, time to change manufacturer, great shame.

  • Have you contacted Garmin support?

  • The lack of Garmin engagement or support on this forum is shocking.

This is a community user-to-user forum. We try to help eachother out when we can. However, the proper channel for support is contacting Garmin via phone, chat, or email if issues are not resolved here.

    https://support.garmin.com

  • Thanks - tried that channel a few times, but as with modern support unless your issue is specifically adressed in the FAQ, to actually find the link or location to send a specific request too is not obvious. I have however sent a request to them now.

Further I did a run this morning with my (Vivosmart HR+) watch and the wife's dodgy Vivosport just to confirm it's not behaving, and once again the activity did not sync from the Vivosport afterwards. Steps, intensity minutes, VO2max all synced, but the activity itself didn't. I'll be returning it to the supplier shortly.

As per previous post, i contacted Garmin support, they were unaware of issue, didnt recognise it, not come across it before, only fix was to disconnect and reconnect phone each time before activity.

  • I am having the same issue with my Vivosmart 4.  The steps show up in Garmin Connect, but walks, runs do not.  I also often get sync failure messages even though the steps show up in my phone.  Sometimes restarting my phone helps.  Sometimes “forgetting” the device and pairing it again helps.  However, nothing seems to help walks or runs show up in Garmin Connect.  Another weird bug:  Steps will show up on the Dashboard page but not in the “details” page for the same day.

I am beginning to think Garmin does not play well with iOS.  And I’m fetting really tired of constant glitches.

  • My vivosport just started throwing up the same errors and have had two activities properly tracker -- showed all the summaries at the end. Saved the activities. Synced via bluetooth -- did not work. Synced via Garmin Connect (Mac OS) -- did not work.

Gonna want this resolved soon if not will really think of using some other device.

  • It’s been happening since I got the vivosport a few years ago. It was very rare at first, then started increasing, now it’s not recording more often than it is. It’s so frustrating. I’m trying to loPensivee weight and I feel that since of accomplishment when I can see what I’ve done. I really wanted to stay loyal to Garmin but I believe this is my last one. I’ll be looking at Apple and FitBit. Pensive

  • I have several issues which are very very annoying.

    1. Syncing failure with IPhone happens all the time.

    2. Activity completed and showing on iPhone but not on app on IPad.

    3. Entry of weight into iPhone but does not show in iPad.

These are not addressed by Garmin.
