Vivosmart 4 - battery charging symbol with a no entry symbol and what looks like a thermometer

My daughters vivosmart 4 would not charge. I have managed to get it to start as though it is going to charge but then the charging symbol changes to what looks like a no entry sign inside the battery and a thermometer. What does this mean?

It would help if you provided a photo, but my guess would be that the watch tries to tell you that it's too hot for charging.

Did you receive an answer? Mine is doing this same thing and I just got it in May! It hadn’t been near any kind of heat or cold.

I contacted Garmin and tried everything they suggested, unfortunately it did not work. However Garmin replaced the item as I had proof of purchase.
