It should be possible to configure / disable them. That it hasn't so far is no excuse for not fixing it now. During my workouts I do not want any band vibrations that do not need my attention (which in this case means only abnormal heart beat detection should generate a notification). Neither do I want animations that prevent me from seeing the information Vivosmart is supposed to provide me with, like heart rate.
