Pin no for Vivosmart 4 - doesn’t stay on the screen long enough to read it. Boxes appear over the top

I’m trying to connect my watch to my android phone via Garmin connect. Following the instructions, there is a brief message for a PIN number, but it disappears before you can read it. Two boxes appear over the top of it.

how do I then find the PIN number?
