Which watch do you have? The accelerometer will detect certain arm movements to determine the exercise reps.
I'm afraid the vivofit 2 is not really suitable for strength training activities. Even the latest vivofit 4 does not have a strength training profile. Staying in the vivo line, you'd have to go with something like a vivoactive 3, 4, or 4s
